CODE OF OPERATION FOR CLUB 791
(PRIVATE MEMBERS CLUB)
CLUB 791 was set up as a ‘Private members club’ with an emphasis on the African community. This is to provide a social setting to allow Africans to meet, socialise, exchange views, reminiscence about the good old times. allowing for nostalgic times and develop their talents whilst making friends in the process.
OBJECTIVES:
Details of membership are as contained in our membership rules and regulations. Certain of these will be particularly stressed in our efforts to maintain good relationship with the community around the club premises and encourage a positive relation with such bodies as the Local police and Council.
In the mean time we hope the structure established will enable our membership to enjoy their time at the club.
1- We endeavour to provide a well trained and professional security services both inside the premises and outside to ensure the safety and peace of our members and the wider community around the club.
2- As a private members club all applicants are thoroughly vetted and we have developed a process, which we believe enables us to regulate membership. All applicants are expected to sign agreeing to maintain and abide by the club rules and regulations.
3- We take all such precautions and measures that will ensure that club members causing or behaving in a manner that may lead to a disturbance or a breach of the peace in the neighbourhood by cooperating with the police and local resident neighbourhood Watch Scheme In addition such members shall be excluded from the club.
4- We use the services of professional light and sound company to organise the sound and lighting in the club. We are aware of the sound levels acceptable and our staff will be provided with full training and back up for the system.
5- All our staff are fully trained and qualified. We also encourage and provide our staff with ongoing training as part of our customer service development.
6- The club is a DRUGS FREE ZONE. No drugs will be allowed in or around the premises at any time. Anyone found using or dealing in drugs will be immediately reported to the police and will be asked to leave the premises. Members will be expelled immediately and membership revoked
7- We liaise with the local cab office to expressly ferry our members to their destinations.
In our effort to develop CLUB 791 into a members club for the African community or with a bias towards the African community and all those interested in African culture, we strictly follow all the relevant laws, rules and regulations that apply to the running of such clubs and will seek all such advice and help as may be necessary to enable us to achieve this objective.
There are well over 50,000 Africans in London and a good proportion of this live in south London. There is very little in the way of social clubs and such facilities for their leisure which also allows them to promote their culture whilst enables them to interact with other cultures as part of a learning and rehabilitation process in a different cultural environment thus enabling us to amicably live side by side. In addition there are also a lot of students and business people who come here and do not have anywhere culturally appropriate to be taken by members as guests to interact with others socially.
There are also members of the diplomatic corps from the different African countries who need such a social set up. All these people plus the different communities around will immensely benefit from the cultural activities and shows that will be staged at the club from time to time to promote awareness.
We propose that the club will become a focal point for the African community and will provide such other community events, which can raise awareness of health, develop and promote talent within the community and also provide a range of employment opportunities.
(a)- The club employs up to 12 people on both full and part time basis.
(b)- The Club is fully Air-Conditioned
(c)- For us to be able to do this we need the club to be a viable business project central to which is the opening hours.
A well-qualified and professional staff with a lot of experience manages the club. The management has in its ranks persons of various expertise and experience and the willingness to give their very best for the development of this club and business opportunities in London Borough of Croydon.
We believe that the development of this club will have a positive impact by:
i. Enabling the interaction of different communities in this social setting.
ii Providing employment.
iii. Increasing understanding amongst the African communities and others.
iv. Provide an appropriate and licensed venue for holding cultural activities with all the requisite equipment and security.
v. Identifying and encouraging talent within the African Community.
vi. Promotion of African food and drinks.
vii. Contributing to the diverse range of social provision in the borough of Croydon.
ACTIVITIES AT THE CLUB
The club intends to provide the following activities for its membership:
· Bar and Restaurant facilities serving African Food and Drink
· Celebration of different cultural days including independence days of various African countries.

Invite different artists to come and play at the venue whether they are musicians, actors, or any such specialists who can have a positive impact on the African Community.
In our efforts to develop this club we have had discussions with and received advice from a wide range of people. This has included the local Police who have given us positive advise and we hope to work with the Community Liaison Officer on questions of security in and around the premises including record keeping of incidences and the reporting systems that will need to be developed.
Thank you.
